SLV alum Carr becomes area’s third minor league all-star this season

Harrisburg Senators right-hander reliever Adam Carr, a San Lorenzo Valley High alum, was a late addition to Double-A Eastern League All-Star Game on Sunday.

Carr has been added to the Western Division roster taking the place of right-handed pitcher Rafael Cova (Richmond), who is unable to participate in the game.

The game is Wednesday evening in Harrisburg, Pa.

Carr, an 18th round by the Washington Nationals in MLB’s 2006 First-Year Player Draft, is 6-1 with three saves and a3.38 ERA in 45.1 innings. He’s allowed less than a hit an inning (39) with 42 strikeouts and 12 walks.

Carr is the third local this year to play in an all-star game.

Scotts Valley High alum Robbie Erlin, a pitcher for the Hickory Crawdads, competed in the Single-A South Atlantic League All-Star Game on June 22.

Aptos alum Carlos Torres, a pitcher for the Charlotte Knights, will compete in the Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday in Allentown, Pa.
