Soquel High alum Casey McGehee, starting third baseman for the Milwaukee Brewers, was in third place among vote getters in 2010 All-Star Game voting.
McGehee, the NL leader in RBIs with 40, is batting .306 on the season [53-for-173] with 12 doubles and team-leading nine home runs — two more than Brewers cleanup hitter Prince Fielder. McGehee bats No. 5 in the order.
McGehee had 185,312 votes to start at third in the All-Star Game — being held in Anaheim on July 13 — when mlb.com released its first tabulations Tuesday. He trails David Wright of the New York Mets [236,387 total votes] and vote leader Placido Polanco of the Philadelphia Phillies [309,458].
Polanco is batting .311 with 11 doubles, five home runs and 21 RBIs entering play Thursday. Wright is hitting .261 with 12 doubles, eight home runs and 33 RBIs.
San Francisco’s Pablo Sandoval is fourth among NL vote getters at third base with 160,179 and Atlanta’s Chipper Jones is fifth with 143,558.
