Aptos’ Williams leads Linfield into NCAA D-III playoffs

Aptos High alum Aaron Williams has helped lead the powerhouse Linfield College to another unbeaten season and into the NCAA Division III playoffs as the No. 5-ranked team in the nation.

Williams, a sophomore running back for the Oregon-based school, had 130 carries for a team-leading 617 yards and nine touchdowns during the regular season as Linfield went 9-0.

Linfield hosts Cal Lutheran (8-1), making its first-ever NCAA playoff appearance, on Saturday in the first round of postseason play.

Linfield earned its 33rd Northwest Conference championship last Saturday with a 62-44 rout of Pacific Lutheran.

Linfield is one of four unbeaten teams in this year’s West Region. The Wildcats completed an undefeated regular season for the sixth time this decade and 18th time in its history.
